Elder Neal A Maxwell and meekness.

As of late, the spirit of the lord has lead me to devour the teachings of Elder Neal A. Maxwell, a deceased apostle of Christ. His words on meekness have greatly impacted me and I am striving to improve this trait.  The journey has been wonderful! Urges have lightened, compulsions are  relieved, and my sins are being washed away by the loving grace of my Redeemer.

This is the video that started it all:

Heber J Grant’s Creed

I’m watching the Living Scriptures DVD about the life of George Albert Smith.  It is entitled: George Albert Smith, Charity Above All.15216212606551712646750I really enjoy his creed and wanted to post it here.  Here it is:

I would be a friend to the friendless and find joy in ministering to the needs of the poor.

I would visit the sick and afflicted and inspire in them a desire for faith to be healed.

I would teach the truth to the understanding and blessing of all mankind.

I would seek out the erring one and try to win him back to a righteous and happy life.

I would not seek to force people to live up to my ideals, but rather love them into doing the thing that is right.

I would live with the masses and help to solve their problems that their earth life may be happy.

I would avoid the publicity of high positions and discourage the flattery of thoughtless friends.

I would not knowingly wound the feelings of any, not even one who may have wronged me, but would seek to do him good and make him my friend

I would overcome the tendency to selfishness and jealousy and rejoice in the successes of all the children of my Heavenly Father.

I would not be an enemy to any living soul.

Knowing that the Redeemed of mankind has offered to the world the only plan that will fully develop us and make us really happy here and hereafter.  I feel it not only a duty, but also a blessed privilege, to disseminate this truth.

It’s a long one! Full of good stuff.  Disseminate means to spread or disperse something, especially information.

I like how he wants to be friends with the friendless and not be an enemy to anyone.

If I was to write this creed, I would put: I  would be a friend to all, regardless of their choices, for all are my siblings,  and worthy of my friendship.

Friendship  is an attribute of charity, and Jesus wants us to be his friend.

How are the citizens in our own little universe of ZION; are they of a friendly disposition? If not, what can you do to change that?

Story Time

A children’s story book

I wrote this a few weeks ago,  I got to have my daughter illustrate it for me. I got it in a cool little notebook. Maybe we will publish it.

Story time, story time.
Come one, come all.
To hear the beaut-full stories
Of the bedland ball.

Daughter comes
And brother too
Even daddy’s there
To hear the brew.

All the family
Is Gathered round
feels warm and cozy
And safe and sound.

“Once apon a time,”
Mother sounds so smooth
Like a fluffy blanket
It warms and soothes

Tales of princes
And ladies fair
Saved from witches
Flying in the air!

Eyes sparkle,
Hearts beat fast
As the story
Continues past

And then…
The day is won!
The villain is beaten

And the prose is done.

“The End” mother says soundly
Nodding her head
She closes the book,
Now off to bed!

But songs and prayers
First must be told
then down we lay
Into the fold.

Hugs and kisses
Squeeze us tight!
And now the chitlins say
Good night!

Below are some pics of my daughter’s illustrations. What do you think?
